role - Brand Designer
problem - Students were expected to create a fictional company and all accompanying brand identity designs to convey a strong brand identity for the company that was ideated. Deliverables included - A logo (Word Mark and Letter Mark shown below), interior & exterior storefront examples, in-store signage, employee apparel, a branded vehicle, & branded merchandise or packaging design (tote bag, potting soil, & flower pot designs below).
solution - I chose to create the hypothetical exotic plant store Lacuna. I wanted something that sounded both modern & medieval in the same breath, ensuring to grab a large variety of attention from multiple plant-loving audiences. While searching for inspiration I stumbled upon the word Lacuna in a novel I was reading. The word "Lacuna" stems from botany, where the definition is described as, "the gap in the vascular tissue of the stem through which a leaf grows". I went on to utilize this word in creating all content for the project shown below.
