for - Personal Project
role - Creative Writer, Designer
problem - As design students, we are lectured on the importance of form being a functional property within our work. But what does form mean on a larger scale? Everything has a physical form, but what else is beyond? Why do we place the concept of form into such a small box when in reality all forms are beautifully broad & all-encompassing? Through personal exploration of the meaning of "form" I created a new acronym for the phrase defined as: Find, Offer, Reach, Maintain (FORM). Find it, Offer self, Reach out, & Maintain hold.
solution - I took an entire day off from the demands of school and work to play & experiment with lines, shapes, & their interactions to create this series of four forms in Adobe Illustrator, & to say I had a blast is an understatement. I even began a small section of creative writing on the subject of form & kept it close by in my journal during the design process, later making the spreads for an explorative publication on this personal adventure into the topic of form. Creating for means of personal growth & enlightenment is what sets apart those who design to complete what is assigned to them & those who do it out of a passion to explore.
